This week we have been having fun with the iPads! We were using it to help us remember some vocabulary terms and practice a skill. They were quick to catch on and enjoyed getting the opportunity to use the iPads to share their learning.

Today we played a game of battleship with a partner and is was a special kind of battleship because it involved using place value. It is great when you can take a math skill and put it into a FUN game to play with a partner.
Today in math, we learned about 3 different forms that numbers could be written in. Some were able to finish the place value houses!
We learned about Ninja Math yesterday! The students were very excited about it because it gives them the chance to practice their multiplication facts. They are all starting out as a White Belt and will be moving up as they pass the multiplication tests. Ninja math allows them to work with a partner, practice their multiplication facts on their own, and challenges them at their level. Keep a look for how our belt levels change over the next few weeks. Ninja Belt LevelsToday we worked on another part of our BUILD rotation. Using technology is always a favorite of the kiddos and they did an awesome job of using two websites to practice their math. The students also practiced a new buddy math game. They did an awesome job doing both rotations and worked well with their partners during the game. We used all parts of the room to enjoy our math time. It didn't matter where you sat or how you sat as long as they were engaged in their math. :) We have been practicing BUILD and the area we have really been focusing on is the B part. The B in BUILD is buddy math. Here are some pictures of the students participating in a game that they will get to continue to practice during math.
We were working on the three different properties for math on Monday. Some of the students were able to record what the properties are and how they are able to remember them.
During math today, the students created their own question with choices to ask their classmates. The students were able to see which of the choices they gave to their classmates was the most and least. The students got to use the Google Chrome computers to practice their multiplication skills. They enjoyed getting to use their very own computer and playing games with one another. The students liked getting to play some new math games. They were able to pick their own partner and try some of them out. |
