We worked on decorating and making our journals our own. They really enjoyed getting to glue and be creative with their notebooks!

The scholars could NOT wait to read the books they chose from our classroom library. We talked about "Good Fit" books and the importance of choosing books that fit for them. Here they are practicing.
The students have been busy writing a How to about something they know how to do. They worked really hard on them.
In reading yesterday, we learned about Martin Luther King Jr. The students had a lot of good questions and we had a very good discussion. They also watched 4 informational videos about him and wrote down 3-4 things that they learned about him. All students were engaged in learning more!
A guided reading group has been working on the Authors Purpose during their guided reading time. Here are a couple of short information videos on what Authors Purpose is.
This week we have been working on long vowels. They were able to do long a's well but the long vowel o's need some more work.
We started working on sentences today and looking for verbs to help our sentences. This was no NORMAL worksheet. They had to walk around the room and find the different verbs and where they were hidden. Some of them were easier than others to find but it was a lot of fun looking for them. All students were engaged in their learning!
We started the week off by learning all about short vowels. The students worked together to create lists of short vowel words.
We finished our friend venn diagrams and they turned out great. It is wonderful to see their personalities showing in the art work they do.
